ICE YOUR CELLULAR PHONE
LEWISTOWN, PA – One-Stop
Communications is encouraging consumers to ICE their
cellular phones. ICE is the acronym for In Case
of Emergency. By entering an ICE contact in a cellular
phone emergency personnel will know who to call
in an emergency situation.
ICE was originally established as a nation-wide
campaign in the UK. ICE allows emergency personnel,
such as paramedics or police, the ability to call
designated contacts in an emergency situation. The
contact can be a relative or friend. The ICE concept
was the brainchild of paramedic Bob Brotchi, who
works for East Anglian Ambulance Service.
Almost everyone carries a cellular phone and with
ICE, emergency personnel will know exactly who to
contact. The contact person may even know the medical
history of the person in need of help, which could
be vital in a life or death situation. ICE is so
simply everyone should take a few minutes to ICE
his or her cellular phones. ICE could help save
your life.
Simply enter a new contact in you cellular phone
address book with the acronym ICE followed by the
contact name (for example, ICE – mom or ICE
– Sara). Save their phone number to the ICE
contact. Be sure to inform your ICE contact that
you have selected them as an emergency contact.
There have been some reports that the ICE campaign
was a hoax and by entering the ICE information phone
users would cause the spread of a virus in cellular
phones. This has been confirmed as being false information
by One-Stop Communications. “This is a great
idea and I encourage all cell phone users to ICE
their phones”, say Michael Buffington, owner
of One-Stop Communications.
